How SMS Consent Works
We only text a caller after they clearly agree to it. Calling a number is not consent. This page shows exactly how we ask, what we record, and how to stop.

1. Who sends the texts
LocalSitesEngine runs phone lines for local service businesses, including our own number (844) 569-3990. Texts are about the request you made on that call or website (for example, following up on a missed call or confirming a callback). We don't send marketing texts, and we don't buy or rent phone lists. Below, the business is shown as “LocalSitesEngine”; on a contractor's line the scripts say that contractor's name.
2. The three ways to opt in
Every call opens with a greeting and recording notice that do not mention texting: “Thanks for calling LocalSitesEngine. This call may be recorded or transcribed.” Consent is then asked for separately, in one of these ways. Saying no, or not answering, never changes how the call goes.
a. Spoken yes, when our AI assistant answers
Once the assistant has your name, callback number and the job you need done, it asks this question word for word:
“Is it okay if we text you at this number about your request? Message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP anytime.”
Only a clear “yes” counts. “No”, an unclear answer or no answer is recorded as no consent. The assistant never asks twice and never pressures you.
b. Pressing 1, before voicemail
When no one can pick up and no AI assistant is talking with you (before voicemail, or after a forwarded call goes unanswered), a recorded voice asks:
“If it's okay for LocalSitesEngine to text you at this number about your call, press 1 now. Message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP anytime.”
Pressing 1 records consent. Any other key, or waiting five seconds, is no consent; the call then continues to voicemail either way.
c. Tapping “Call me” on a website
Next to the “Call me” button on our sites (which has the AI assistant call you right away), this wording is shown directly at the button:
“By tapping Call me, you agree that LocalSitesEngine may call this number now, including with an automated AI assistant, and text you about your request. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Consent is not a condition of purchase.”
3. Sample conversations
AI assistant call, caller says yes
- Recorded greeting: Thanks for calling LocalSitesEngine. This call may be recorded or transcribed.
- AI assistant: I'm the virtual assistant — how can I help?
- Caller: Hi, my water heater is leaking. This is Dana.
- AI assistant: Sorry to hear that, Dana. Is the number you're calling from a good callback number, or would you like a different number?
- Caller: This number is fine.
- AI assistant: Got it. What day and time works best for a callback?
- Caller: This afternoon.
- AI assistant: Is it okay if we text you at this number about your request? Message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP anytime.
- Caller: Yes, that's fine.
- AI assistant: Thanks, Dana. Someone from the team will follow up with you this afternoon. Have a great day!
- Text sent right after: LocalSitesEngine: You're opted in to texts about your request. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.
Voicemail, caller presses 1
- Recorded greeting: Thanks for calling LocalSitesEngine.
- Recorded question: If it's okay for LocalSitesEngine to text you at this number about your call, press 1 now. Message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP anytime.
- Caller: (presses 1)
- Recorded voice: Thanks, you're opted in to texts. Please leave your name, number and what you need, and we'll call you right back. (beep)
- Text sent right after: LocalSitesEngine: You're opted in to texts about your request. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.
4. The confirmation text
Right after you opt in, you get one confirmation text:
“LocalSitesEngine: You're opted in to texts about your request. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.”
We don't text between 9pm and 8am in your local time. If you opt in during those hours, the confirmation is held and goes out in the morning, before any other text.
5. How consent is recorded and stored
Each opt-in is saved as its own record with:
- your phone number and the business line you called or the site you used;
- how you opted in (spoken yes to the AI assistant, pressing 1, or tapping “Call me”);
- the exact wording you heard or saw, and its script version (v2);
- the call ID, or the web page address where you tapped the button;
- the date and time, when the confirmation text was sent, and if and when you opted out.
Without a record like this, the system doesn't text you. Records are kept for 4 years so we can show when and how consent was given. They are only available to our own systems and staff. We never sell or share your phone number or opt-in data with third parties for marketing.
6. Message frequency and rates
Message frequency varies with your request, usually a few messages. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your phone plan and carrier. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
7. Opting out, and help
- Reply STOP to any text. That opts you out of texts from that number right away, and we mark your consent as withdrawn.
- Or say so on a call: if our AI assistant asks to text you and you don't say yes, any earlier opt-in for your number is withdrawn.
- Or email support@localsitesengine.com and we'll remove your number.
Reply HELP for help. You'll get: “LocalSitesEngine: texts about your request. For help email support@localsitesengine.com. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.”
